Antique 1800's French Porcelain Lg Covered Serving Tureen & Platter Artichoke Finial. Up for sale is this OUTSTANDING antique fine porcelain covered tureen, casserole or soupier set with a larger serving platter. All a matching pattern, made of very thick white porcelain. Hand painted Burgundy Red and gold stripes encircle the main white oval body of the tureen and platter, as well as the oval lid.The very precisely sculpted handles are well gilt over floral decoration in relief. The lid is topped by a beautifully detailed gilt artichoke finial. French in origin from the mid/second half of the 19th century. All pieces are unmarked, except for some underglaze handwritten numbers on the underside of the platter - 22 (in fancier script), 74 and 4. PLEASE SCROLL DOWN THE PAGE FOR MORE PHOTOS! Platter: 22" x 15 x 2.5". Tureen: 15" x 9.5" x 11.25 high with lid. The set Weighs about 16 lbs. Condition: Very Good overall; Intact with no major issues whatsoever! Some slight manufacturing imperfections, notably on the gilding. One such imperfection on the platter rim edge. A tiny hard to notice surface flake on the underside of one of the tureen handles. As a matter of fact all these "faults" are most common on antique porcelain and discernible upon a very close inspection and are listed here for utmost accuracy.
